Product Description

Magnesium rare earth alloy

Advantages of magnesium rare earth alloy:
1. High specific strength-After aging, the room temperature tensile strength can reach more than 430MPa, and the specific strength can reach more than 220 MPa/(g·cm-3). It can replace some high-strength aluminum alloy materials in the aerospace field. It can completely replace 2A12 (166 MPa/(g·cm-3)) aluminum alloy.
The room temperature tensile strength of cast magnesium rare earth alloys can reach 320MPa or more, which is comparable to ZL114A (strength 320MPa, elongation 3%) commonly used in aviation, and it makes up for the low strength and poor plasticity of conventional cast magnesium alloys.
2. Good heat resistance-the tensile strength of some high-strength magnesium rare earth alloys at 300°C can still reach 200MPa, which is far better than the heat resistance of aviation aluminum alloy (300°C, 7075 tensile strength is about 60MPa);
3. High damping-impact resistance is 10 times that of aluminum alloy and 20 times that of plastics. It can play an important role in reducing equipment failure rate, reducing characteristic signals, improving equipment combat effectiveness and battlefield survivability.
4. Excellent welding performance-inhibits the generation of looseness and cracks and reacts with gas, reducing the generation of pores.
5. Superplasticity-The elongation rate of superplastic sheet is as high as 500%, which provides support for the formation of aircraft skins and other complex shape components.
6. Good flame retardancy and corrosion resistance-purify the melt to improve the overall corrosion resistance; inhibit the cathodic reaction, reduce electrochemical corrosion, and improve the corrosion resistance and flame retardancy of the alloy.

High-strength heat-resistant magnesium rare earth alloys are mainly used in aviation, aerospace and weaponry fields that have strong weight reduction requirements and must withstand changes in space temperature, including cockpit frames, nose covers, door frames, ribs, beams, missile pylons, and missile cabins Body, engine engine, cylinder and gearbox housing and other parts.

Magnesium rare earth alloy application characteristics

Alloy Material type Material characteristics and typical uses
ZE61 Plates, forgings, bar Achieve high room temperature tensile strength and yield strength at a lower cost, and is suitable for occasions where there is an urgent need for weight reduction and higher strength requirements.
MB22 Plates Mg-Y-Zn-Zr series of wrought magnesium alloys are mainly made into sheets, with good forming and welding properties, and no stress corrosion tendency. It is recommended to be used for short-term aerospace structural parts below 300ºC.
MB25 Forgings, bars Plasticity, toughness and corrosion resistance are similar to those of MB15, with good cutting performance and poor welding performance. It can replace some medium-strength aluminum alloys for aircraft load-bearing components.
MB26 Plates, forgings, bar This alloy replaces Y in MB25 with Y-rich mixed rare earths. The price is lower and the performance difference is not big. It can also be applied to aircraft parts.
AE80 Plates, forgings, bar The alloy is improved based on AZ80M. By adding rare earth elements, the room temperature and high temperature properties of the alloy are improved, and it can be used to prepare aircraft engine parts.
WE43 Castings, plates It has good tensile performance, creep resistance and fatigue resistance at room temperature and high temperature, and can be used in vibration, sand and dust, high temperature, etc.
WE54 Plates, forgings, Extrusion Serve in a harsh environment. It can be applied to aircraft parts such as aircraft engine gearboxes and helicopter gearboxes.
VW63 Plates, forgings, Extrusion Mg-Gd-Y is a heat-resistant magnesium alloy with good room temperature and high temperature performance, and has great application potential in aircraft.

VW94
Plates, forgings, Extrusion The high-strength heat-resistant magnesium rare earth alloy has a tensile strength of more than 200MPa at 300°C, and its heat resistance is far better than aviation aluminum alloy. It is mainly used in the aerospace and weaponry fields that have strong weight reduction requirements and must withstand changes in space temperature, including cockpit skeletons, nose covers, door frames, ribs, beams, missile pylons, missile cabins and other parts.
