The specific strength and specific stiffness of titanium and aluminum are relatively high, they are important structural materials in aerospace and spacecraft. But titanium is expensive. With the increase of speed and other conditions, aluminum and its alloys are difficult to meet the requirements of use. Therefore, the Ti-Al composites developed by Henan Chalco have comprehensive physical, chemical and mechanical properties that the single material of Ti and Al will not have, and become a new material in the field of Aeronautics and astronautics, and have been widely used.

The Clading Material (AL-TI) Plate Sheet Manufacturer made by Henan Chalco are made by explosive welding and rolling. The materials are TA1M and LY12CZ, and their thickness is 2.5mm and 10mm respectively. In the middle of titanium and aluminum alloy, industrial pure aluminum is used as the intermediate layer, which ultimately determines the strength and properties of welded joints. The introduction of the intermediate layer will greatly improve the plastic deformation of the joints and promote the formation of brittle intermetallic compounds to a higher temperature. Therefore, the use of aluminum interlayer, not only in the preparation of titanium-aluminum alloy composite plate, but also in the use of this material transition joints, will have a favorable effect.

After the explosion welding, the joint surface presents sinusoidal waveform. Then the composite slab was heated to 480ºC and hot rolled. The rolling direction was parallel to the detonation direction. After seven rolling, 12.5mm was rolled to 2.5mm.

In aerospace technology, aluminum alloy and titanium alloy are used to form multi-layer parts by explosive combined explosive welding. The fatigue strength of this composite material is much higher than that of the original alloy. Fatigue crack propagation is prevented near the interlayer interface. Explosive welding can produce aluminum lithium joints and parts that can not be obtained by diffusion welding.
