2A16 Al-Cu-Mn 2A16 Alloy is a heat treated Al-Cu-Mn system heat resistant aluminum alloy, and it is a kind of cryogenic alloy, which can be used at very cold temperature. It has high endurance strength at 250~350 C, which can be used for a long time in this temperature range. Its room temperature strength is lower than that of 2A12 alloy. The alloy has good weldability, and can be used for electric welding, roll welding and argon arc welding. The friction stir welding has excellent performance. After solid solution treatment, the natural failure rate of the alloy is slow, the incubation period is long and the application under artificial aging is one of the most deformation aluminum alloys used in the spacecraft.
