                Aluminum-Lead Bimetallic Clad Explosive Welding Plate Sheet

The content of lead in the crust is 0.004%. It is a nonferrous metal with excellent plasticity, low strength and good corrosion resistance. Lead has great attenuation ability to vibrations, sound waves, X-rays and gamma-rays, and is grayish-black in the air. Metal lead is a good shielding material, which has great attenuation ability to X-ray, gamma-ray, acoustic wave and vibration. Its radiation protection performance is equivalent to 2.5 times thick steel plate and 6 times thick cement.

Lead is stable in atmosphere, fresh water and sea water. The lead oxide film attached to the lead surface can protect the internal lead from further oxidation. Lead has a good corrosion resistance to sulfuric acid, it is not resistant to acid corrosion, in hydrochloric acid is not stable, but for phosphoric acid, sulfurous acid, chromic acid has a good corrosion resistance.

The combination of lead and various metals and alloys has great theoretical and practical significance. Lead is difficult to be used as structural material because of its low strength. Therefore, the bimetal made of lead and other metal materials has been successfully used. The ability of lead to absorb radioactive radiation can be used to make corresponding protective devices of various metals coated with lead.

Lead-based sheet composites can be used for many instruments and devices, working in ionic radiation fields, erosive media, and under strong vibration loads. For example, lead-copper or lead-aluminum bimetals are needed to make devices that protect both ionic radiation and shield powerful electromagnetic fields. The radiation resistance of lead is far superior to that of conventional materials such as steel, cement, rammed earth and wood plank. But the mechanical properties of metal lead are not high, which will bring some difficulties in installation and use. Lead sheet is compounded with stainless steel or aluminum sheet by metal dynamic compounding (explosive compounding), which can protect or support the lead sheet and increase its aesthetics.
